    Terms of use

    Agreement

By creating a SpeakSeeker account you agree to these terms. SpeakSeeker is a marketplace connecting speakers - individuals seeking engagements, conferences, and podcasts - with seekers, organizations and individuals looking to book speakers. You must be 18 or older to use the platform. These terms form a binding agreement between you and SpeakSeeker.

    Accounts & Content

Speaker accounts can create a profile, browse events, and apply to speak. Seeker accounts can post opportunities, browse speakers, and manage applications. You are responsible for your account security and the accuracy of content you post. You retain ownership of your content; by posting it you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license to display and distribute it to operate the platform. Accounts are personal and non-transferable; you may not share access with others.

    Rules & Acceptable Use

You may not use SpeakSeeker to:

    • Post fake listings, opportunities, or profiles
    • Harass, threaten, or harm other users
    • Scrape, crawl, or programmatically access the platform without permission
    • Impersonate another person or organization
    • Transmit spam, malware, or unlawful content
    • Circumvent or manipulate the platform's features or pricing
    • Violate any applicable laws or regulations

We reserve the right to remove content or accounts that violate these rules without notice.

    Marketplace Disclaimer

SpeakSeeker is a platform for connecting speakers and seekers; we are not a party to any agreement between them. We do not guarantee the quality, suitability, legality, or accuracy of any speaker profile or event listing. Users engage with each other at their own risk. Speakers are independent individuals and are not employees or agents of SpeakSeeker.

    Payments & Subscriptions

Core marketplace access is free. Optional premium features are available via subscription processed through Stripe. Subscription fees are charged at the start of each billing period and are non-refundable except where required by law.

You may cancel a subscription at any time in Settings; access continues until the end of the current billing period. Subscription benefits are subject to change as the platform evolves. We will provide reasonable notice before material changes to subscription pricing or included features.

    Promotions & Promo Codes

SpeakSeeker may offer promotional codes or trial periods that grant temporary access to premium features. Unless otherwise stated at the time of the offer:

    • Promo codes are for one-time use per account and are non-transferable
    • Promo codes have no cash value and cannot be combined with other offers
    • Free premium subscriptions granted via promo code may be removed after 3 months
    • SpeakSeeker reserves the right to expire, revoke, or modify promotional offers at any time
    • Abuse of promotional offers may result in account suspension

    Communications & Notifications

By creating an account you authorize SpeakSeeker to send you transactional emails including account verification, password resets, application updates, and important platform notices. You may receive in-app notifications about activity relevant to your account. You may disable non-essential notifications at any time in Settings. We do not sell your contact information to third parties for marketing purposes.

    Intellectual Property

The SpeakSeeker name, logo, design, and platform code are owned by SpeakSeeker and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of our platform without written permission. Any feedback or suggestions you submit to SpeakSeeker may be used by us without restriction or compensation to you.

    Termination & Liability

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice. You may delete your account at any time in Settings; deletion removes your profile and associated data. SpeakSeeker is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

To the extent permitted by law, SpeakSeeker is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the fees you paid to SpeakSeeker in the 12 months prior to the claim.

    Dispute Resolution

If you have a dispute with SpeakSeeker, please contact us first at aidan@speakseeker.com so we can try to resolve it informally. These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any unresolved disputes shall be subject to binding arbitration on an individual basis; class action claims are waived to the extent permitted by applicable law.

    General

Force majeure. SpeakSeeker is not liable for failure to perform due to causes beyond our reasonable control, including outages, natural disasters, or third-party service failures.

Severability. If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full effect.

Entire agreement. These terms, together with our Privacy Notice, constitute the entire agreement between you and SpeakSeeker regarding the platform and supersede any prior agreements.

    Privacy notice

    What We Collect

We collect your email and account type at registration. Optionally: name, photo, bio, location, topics, and other profile details. Event and application data when you create or respond to listings. Message content so both parties can access conversation history. Anonymized usage signals to improve the platform - we do not build individual profiles for advertising.

    How We Use It

To operate your account, display your profile per your visibility settings, facilitate connections, deliver messages, send transactional emails (verification, password reset, notifications), process payments, enforce our terms, and improve the platform.

Profiles can be set public (visible in search) or private (hidden from discovery) at any time in settings. When you apply to an event, your profile and responses are shared with that seeker.

    Third-Party Services

    • Supabase - auth, database, and storage
    • LinkedIn OAuth - optional login; LinkedIn's terms govern your LinkedIn account
    • Stripe - payments; we never store card details
    • Vercel - hosting and anonymized analytics

    Data, Security & Your Rights

We retain your data while your account is active. Deleting your account via Settings removes your profile and associated data. We use HTTPS, hashed passwords, and database access controls. Depending on your jurisdiction you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your data - contact us at aidan@speakseeker.com. SpeakSeeker is not directed to anyone under 18.

    Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, and gather anonymized usage data to improve the platform. We do not use cookies for targeted advertising. You can control cookie settings in your browser, though disabling cookies may affect platform functionality.

    Changes

We may update these terms and privacy notice from time to time. The “Last updated” date above reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of SpeakSeeker after changes are posted constitutes acceptance. For material changes we will make reasonable efforts to notify you by email.
